I will not receive a refund that I am due! I keep getting the proverbial run-around.
There was no delay in withdrawing the monthly payment, I can't understand the delay in a $300 refund. I have seen where Neptune has been involved in some legal issues. Now, no one answers the phone.
It's a really sad state of affairs when a company, dealing with the utmost issue of living, is run by shady corporate greed! I only want the money that is owed to me!
- Will not send the refund due

This place will do anything for money and does not care about helping people at all during one of the worst times of their lives.
Dealing with Neptune Society (owned by Service Corp. Int'l, or "SCI") has been one of the most miserable experiences of my life.
Neptune should be ashamed. If you have not yet engaged with Neptune, I urge you to RUN away as quickly as possible. There is a reason this sorry excuse for a company has 1.8 stars on Consumer Affairs and P*ssed Consumer, in addition to many complaints on BBB. And if that is not bad enough, please ask yourself why any company would agree to settle a lawsuit against it for over $22 MILLION dollars if it truly did nothing wrong.
Other lawsuits against Neptune are still pending.
My mother passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 7, 2023. My mother's death was reported to Neptune on Dec. 8, 2023.
Ashley S. of the Parma, OH location was assigned as the Service Manager. I told Ashley that I would be traveling from CA to OH to take care of my mother's final affairs and that we would be organizing a service later in December. My cousin and I provided Ashley with all the requested information.
Ashley waited until the following week (Dec. 14, 2023) to inform me that there was still an outstanding balance on my mother's account and that she could not move forward with anything until it was paid (this is contrary to the information I received from Amy P. of Neptune's MPLS, MN office, which was that the process could still go forward; Amy P. is Ashley's supervisor).
The outstanding balance was paid the same day as Ashley informed us it was due. We also finalized the paperwork within a couple of days of receiving it.
On Dec. 18, 2023, we followed up with Ashley and were told that we would have my mother's cremains available for pickup on Dec. 22, 2023.
This did not happen, and things went from bad to worse. My mother's service was scheduled for Dec. 23, 2023. We did not have the cremains for the service, and we had not heard back from Ashley for several days.
Being ghosted for this period of time during the holidays and still suffering from the loss of my mother was like a slap in the face from Neptune. Ashley repeatedly blamed this on the hospital and gave many other excuses for why she didn't respond until we followed up multiple times. But despite these excuses, Ashley never provided any type of confirmation that the reason for the so called delay was due to the doctor. Ashley continued to tell us that we would have the death certificate and cremains on dates that came and went without us receiving anything.
And Ashley never provided proof that she filed a complaint against the doctor with the OH medical board, though I made several requests for her to do so. On Dec. 26, 2023, Ashley told us that Neptune's cremation policy "states it can take up to 15 business days."
My cousin and I continued to follow up. On Jan.
2, 2024, we were informed that Ashley was out of the office but would get back to us. On Jan. 4, 2024, Ashley finally responded and said she would call me "with an update tomorrow." Ashley NEVER called. We followed up again on Jan.
8, 2024, and again on Jan. 9, 2024. Ashley finally responded saying Neptune would move forward with cremation.
My mother was not cremated until Jan. 10, 2024--MORE THAN ONE MONTH AFTER HER PASSING and well beyond Neptune's "15 business day policy." Before the cremation could occur, we received an email on that same day stating that Neptune needed a photo of my mother before the cremation could proceed.
I will never know why Ashley waited so long to tell us about missing information as every time they needed something, we got back to Neptune quickly. That same courtesy was NOT returned. Ashley did nothing more than make excuses and never once apologized or took responsibility for the pain and suffering she and Neptune caused my family.
While Amy was more responsive, I cannot honestly say that anyone has ever taken responsibility for the harm they have caused me and my family. In addition to these terrible acts, I learned that the Neptune in AZ sold my mother overpriced garbage under the guise of a Veteran's Momento package.
Photos show Neptune's poor quality of products. My mother was charged $1,610.69 for a memorial chest (similar ones online go for ~$200), 25 thank you cards (these were printed on computer paper & look like they were cut out by a child), a candle keepsake (checkout the photos, this is awful and embarrassing), and a biodegradable urn (i.e., cardboard box with a flag printed on it).
Dealing with Neptune will get you nothing more than cheap, overpriced products, extremely poor service during one of the worst times of your life, and Neptune's failure to adhere to its own contract terms.
To this day, Neptune has never offered any sort of remedy for its wrongdoing after hustling ~$3,500 out of my mother (and us). Now I am forced to seek legal action.

User's recommendation: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
This company has been providing misleading information since day 1 of my father-in-laws death!
My father-in-law singed a contract 2 years ago with this company to provide his cremation in the state of Texas. Well, he had to come to Colorado to stay as there was no one to take care of him.
We specifically asked Neptune if the policy provided relocation back to Texas where all of his other family resides. They were happy to say Yes to all our questions, we are here to help, they are 100% there to rip you off! Then at the time of his death, we then find out that they are refusing to send him back to Texas as agreed. This company continues to provide misleading information with every different person.
NOT one single person at that company has provided the same answer. These people continue to give you the run-a-around by send you to different departments. I believe we were sent to 4 different representatives, only to be told that they are going to abide by the contract agreement today and then the very next morning, after I had to initiate the callback. I was then told that they made a mistake and that they will not be moving him back to Texas.
We even paid for the "Away from him protection plan $569.00". What an absolute Joke this Neptune Society is. I have already requested a 100% refund, but with this companies track record in California of how they Refused refunds and the Supreme Court of California rules AGAINST Neptune and their shady practices. They were found at Fault/Guilty!
I will never do business with this company again, but I will do everything in my power to provide these types of reviews all over social media. If I can stop just 1 person from spending their money at this shady/misleading/misrepresented contacts, I am going to do whatever I can to stop this place from ripping more people off, especially at the time of a family members death!!!
User's recommendation: Extreme Warning!!! Do not ever use this service if you value your loved ones last wishes!!!!!!

Verified Reviewer |Urns placement
I have a plot in my hometown Cemetery. I am going to be cremated through body donation center.
I wanted to know if a non relative can be placed in an urn into my plot? What legal actions do I need to take?
Do your research and read not only good but bad reviews..
We based our decision on Neptune Society primarily on one thing-"Customer Service." Their representations in the sales pitch, advertising, quality of product, etc. are misleading and any complaints are answered with nothing more than "scripted responses." We sought to return the grossly overpriced "memento packages" within the 30 day time period and eventually personally delivered them to the local Kansas City office.
Over the course of 5+ months we were met with multiple broken commitments, lies, claims of lost paperwork, etc. When we did finally receive the checks after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and referring the matter to the Missouri Attorney Generals Office we got our checks but instead of a refund for the memento packages they sent payment for the entire transaction. So, after months of delay the only thing accomplished was that the Neptune Society had access to our $6,000+ for over 5 months. Further reviews of negative complaints of this company show a culture of bad faith and misrepresentation in their business dealings with customers.
Do your homework and go elsewhere. There are others that cost less and it would be hard to conceive of any firm of this nature with this level of inept customer service.
User's recommendation: Go elsewhere. Do not leave a matter this important to those chosen to take care of our last wishes to this firm. .

Verified Reviewer |Problem with my mothers remains.
My mother and father signed up with Neptune to have their remains spread in the Marin headlands. My father decided to change and have his ashes interred in Los Angeles but forgot to include my mother in that change.
Although we have power of attorney and were informed by mom that she wanted to be next to her husband, Neptune will not release her remains to us. They cite they are legally bound to spread her remains in the bay. They have had her remains for too many years.
What can we do? Can they keep her remains forever in their basement?

Verified ReviewerResolved: I feel we were mislead on our contract with Neptune from the representative.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with partial refund.
As part of our contract the representative asked if we wanted travel protection on our policies. He told us if the protection wasn't used we would get a full refund of the money paid for that part of the contract.
On that I decided sure because if not used the money would be returned.
Reading the contract completely showed that we were lied to. After 30 days there was no refund and it cost us over $1000 more.
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Don't believe anything your told by the sales person. Read all the small print before signing.
Moving from Albuquerque, NM to Michigan's Upper Peninsula
I, too, had to buy the large box for an urn for my ashes! I am very concerned that my monthly monies are not being banked properly.
I will have to check with Michigan Attorney General when I relocate to Michigan. California seems to be OK, but a friend's wife was left for weeks until being cremated.

Verified Reviewer |Fraudulent business taking advantage of the elderly
My parents were over charged for funeral plan package. The business did none of the arrangements but she was charged for many things Neptune did not even attempt to do, Including the long wait time for cremation to be done.
My father passed in March of 2021. She wants a refund and to return the $1,300.00 plastic box (urn) that was too big for the memorial wall placement at cemetery services provided by the Veterans Administration not Neptune though she was charged for that too!
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Do not be fooled by the “affordable standard plan” as it is pushed on customers so Neptune can add miscellaneous unnecessary items
Got ambulance chased while surfing
Surfing for info for pre-need as someone wants me to be their Successor Trustee. Website had links to what looked like helpful documents to help you understand process.
Requirement to open the download was of course email, and also phone #. Within 12 hours I had someone call me - and calling me "honey" set the tone for the rest. I said "I didn't expect a callback so soon." He then claimed that they are "required" because of covid to call back immediately "I'm not an ambulance chaser BUT ..." and started in sales pitch. I told him I was just surfing, no immediate needs.
He ratcheted up, kept going. At which point I terminated the call and saved his phone # as "Neptune Ambulance Chaser" Sad, because this company used to have a great reputation.
User's recommendation: If phone # is required to get PDF, go to another provider
Cost given on the computer micro soft says it costs 1950 not true
On phone call the rep. gave me cost of 3507 including no family gathering and no scattering in San Francisco.
When I read the answer on line stating the above amount she said #oh that's the internet for you# I suggested she talk with someone and get the correct information out.
Called headquarters and had to leave a message, The whole point is I do not want to leave my daughter with a big bill she can't pay so if i do the 3507 and die before it is paid in 5 1/2 years she has to pay the remainder. I am 80 now.
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Have correct information out to public
Forced to buy "retail" junk
I told the salesperson that I didn't want the "memory box" and she said that was part of the package and I HAD to buy it. I reluctantly agreed.
I am still FURIOUS and when I saw the contract thing that I was forced to sign to get the cremation package, I had 30 days to return it.
I am stuck with this tacky box that my family will NEVER use and I want out!!!!! I won't recommend this farce to anyone.Stay away!!

Neptune Society waited 2 months to submit a death certificate after death of my Dad. Highly unusual & suspicious.
